The Maplewood Mets needed a few extra innings to leave their mark on the Door County Baseball League playoff chase, beating Washington Island 8-7 in 11 innings on Sunday.

The two teams traded single runs through the first five inning before the Mets scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning. That rally was highlighted by RBI singles from Kody Kissinger, Gavin Brady, and Jaden Diller. The Islanders chipped away at that deficit with single tallies in the sixth and seventh innings before sending the game into extra courtesy of back-to-back run scoring singles from Luke Geiger and Ray McDonald. After scoreless 10th, Kordell Draves broke the tie with an RBI single that drove in Diller from second base. The Islanders went down in order in the bottom of the inning to secure the upset win for the Mets.

The Mets overcame six errors thanks to three-hit, one RBI performances from Noah Wagner and DIller while Brady and Draves each had two hits. Tory Jandrin got the win, allowing three runs (2 ER) on five hits and a walk while recording a strikeout across five innings of work. 

For the Islanders, Caleb Cornell, Luke Geiger, McDonald, Cam Munao, and Alex Johnson all had two-hit performances with McDonald (2) and the Geigers (1 each) recording the RBI. Bennett Isaacson-Krueger took the loss, allowing six runs (6 ER) on 10 hits and five walks while striking out one across six innings.
