The Green Bay Blizzard needed more than 60 minutes to clinch their second straight trip to the IFL National Championship game on Sunday, beating the Tulsa Oilers 67-60 in overtime.
The Blizzard and Oilers traded scores all night long with no team ever holding a lead larger than the final seven point margin. After Andrew Mevis forced overtime with a 14-yard field goal, Liam Thompson found Isaac Ross for a four-yard touchdown for what ended up being the game-winning score. In the Oilers' possession, TJ Edwards II came up just a few yards short of the sticks to extend a drive on 4th and 10, leading to mass hysteria on the field as the Blizzard secured their spot in the title game.
Thompson ended the game with 232 and seven touchdowns through the air as he completed 20 passes to go along with his 61 rushing yards. Trevon Alexander was his top target with seven grabs for 95 yards and three touchdowns. Draysean Hudson made the most out of his two receptions as they both went for touchdowns.
The Blizzard will travel to Tucson to battle the Arizona Rattlers, who beat the San Diego Strike Force 43-37 to secure their spot in the IFL National Championship in front of its home crowd.
