Cubs, A's battle under the lights

Baileys Harbor and Institute will play each other in the final night game of the Door County Baseball League season on Friday.

 

The Cubs allowed West Jacksonport to accumulate 12 walks and three hit-by-pitches to pile up runs and snap an extended losing streak in a 13-7 loss last Friday night. The lead was 10-1 before the Cubs mounted their comeback. Buoyed by a two-run double by Caleb Hoffman, the Cubs scored five times in the game to shring their deficit to 10-6. Will Hartman went 2-4 with one RBI while Zirbel also drove in a run on one hit. Siggy Hansen took the loss, allowing nine runs on six hits and eight walks across four innings while striking out two. 

 

The A's playoff hopes took a hit on Sunday with a 7-4 loss to Maplewood on Sunday. The A's biggest rally came in the seventh inning when Chris Lodl and Caleb Plzak had back-to-back RBI singles and had the tying run at the plate before the Mets induced a fielder's choice to end the scoring for the game. Aaron Brey, Chris Lodl, and Hayden Reetz each had two hits with Lodl, Plzak, and Reetz accounting for the RBI. Danny Lodl took the loss, allowing four runs (4 ER) on four hits) and two walks while striking out two across 1.1 innings.  

 

First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m.
