The Green Bay Blizzard could not shake the rust off quick enough on Sunday as they dropped their regular season finale 60-47 to the Jacksonville Sharks.
The Sharks took an early 9-0 lead after they followed up a touchdown with a deuce. Every time the Blizzard answered, the Sharks followed with their own score before eventually rattling off 16 consecutive points and 23 of the final 33 points to take a 30-19 lead in the locker room. The two teams traded scores in the second half with the Blizzard only able to take a nibble out of their halftime deficit.
Quarterbacks Liam Thompson and Cole Stenstrom combined to throw 148 yards and four total touchdowns (two passing, two rushing) while Kairee Robinson led the team in rushing with 31 yards and two touchdowns. Trevon Alexander accounted for both touchdowns through the air as registered 54 receiving yards.
The Blizzard will have to bounce back on Sunday with the IFL Playoffs starting at 1 p.m. at the Resch Center when they host the Orlando Pirates. The Blizzard beat the Pirates 71-68 on April 24th and 52-50 on July 5th.
