Bays power past Ports on 105.1 The GOAT

Sister Bay was able to keep pace with the other Door County Baseball League leaders on Sunday, beating West Jacksonport on the road 12-7.

With the Bays struggling against pitcher Payton Kuehn early, the Ports were able to snag an early 1-0 lead when Luke Steebs singled in Riley Cordier in the second inning. The Bays figured things out in the third inning with three straight batters reaching including an RBI single by Hobbs Emerson. Spencer Krause gave the Bays a lead they would not relinquish with a two-RBI single.

The Ports nearly got those runs back, by pitcher Sam Forkert was able to hold them scoreless in the third, setting the stage for a pair of four-run innings for the Bays. The Ports were able to scratch together a three-run rally in the fourth, but they still found themselves down 11-4 in the fifth inning. Drew Tanck led off the sixth inning with a solo shot over the right field fence ahead of RBI sacrifice fly from C.J. Goetz, to make it 11-6, but the Bays tacked a run back on in the seventh to make it 12-6. Tanck's second double of the day accounted for the final run of the game.

For the Bays, Tom Sawyer, Stew Larsen, and Spencer Krause all had two hits. Larsen led the way with five RBI while Krause and Sam Forkert each had two. Forkert was the winning pitcher, allowing six runs (4 ER) on 13 hits while striking out eight.
