The Algoma Penguins have jumped out of their slump with two consecutive victories with their latest effort a 15-5 win over the Manitowoc White Caps.
A day after snapping a season-long winning streak for the Chiefs, the White Caps found themselves in a 2-0 deficit to the Penguins after the first inning. They led the game 5-3 before the game turned in favor of the Penguins for good in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Penguins strung together three runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-5 lead before batting around in the fifth inning while scoring six runs in the process. The frame was highlighted by a two-run double by Jaden Dillar and a grand slam by Austin Dart. The Penguins tacked on three runs in the sixth inning to force the early ending.
Brady Kita led the Penguins with three hits and four RBI including a double and a homer. Dart's evening ended with two hits and six RBI while Dillar, Carson Leist, Evan Monfre, and Ty Long also had multi-hit performances. Mason Paye got the win on the mound, allowing three runs (3 ER) on seven hits and a walk while striking out one.
In Friday's Shoreland League action, Kewaunee welcomes Casco for a 7:30 p.m. first pitch.
