Islanders blast A's

An eight-run second inning was all Washington Island needed in a 17-0 win over Baileys Harbor on Sunday.

In that fateful frame, the Islanders loaded the bases and had a run in with two outs before they had seven consecutive batters reach including back-to-back doubles from Ben and Luke Geiger and a bases-clearing triple from Alex Johnson. The Islanders posted another crooked number in the sixth inning leading 10-0, scoring five times courtesy of a bases-loaded walk and RBI singles from Johnson, Ray McDonald, and Caleb Cornell. The Islanders finished off the A's with two more runs in the eighth.

For the Islanders, Cam Munao went 4-5 with two RBI while Ben Johnson, Alex Johnson, and Ben Geiger all had three hits. Ben Geiger and Alex Geiger knocked in four runs apiece while Luke Geiger had three RBI. Ryan Jorgensen got the win with 4.2 innings of shutout ball where he allowed three hits and struck out two.

For the A's, Bryce Plzak and Aaron Brey each had two hits. Brey took the loss on the mound, allowing 10 runs (10 ER) on 12 hits and five walks while striking out three batters.
