The Maplewood Mets used a four-run second inning to earn a 7-1 home win over West Jacksonport on Sunday.
The Mets took advantage of a bases-loaded walk and two wild pitches before Jaden Diller's sacrifice fly drove in the final run of the frame. The Mets added insurance runs in the third and fourth innings before matching the Ports with their final run in the sixth. The Ports outhit the Mets 7-6, but also led them in the errors department 3-1.
For the Mets, Gavin Brady led the way with two hits while Diller, Adam Gutschow, Kordell Draves, Will Jandrin, and Matthew Malvitz all drove in runs. Tory Jandrin earned the win on the mound, throwing four innings of shutout ball across five innings.
For the Ports, Peyton Kuehn and Jake LeBotte each had two hits while Frankie de Young drove in the team's lone run as a part of a 1-4 day. Kuehn took the loss for the Ports, allowing six runs (4 ER) on four hits and four walks while striking out four across four innings.
