Braves bust out bats in win over Cubs

Kolberg scored at least two runs in five different innings in their 14-3 win over Institute on Sunday.

 

The Braves outhit the Cubs 16-6 as they built up an 11-0 lead before the Cubs finally got onto the scoreboard with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Braves were quickly able to restore order, scoring another three runs in the top of the ninth inning.

 

For the Braves, Austen Rohe went 5-6 with a double and  three RBI and Jack Peterson went 4-6 with four RBI thanks in part to a double and a triple. Trevor Hawkey homered as a part of his two hits while Charlie Neinas and Nick LeCaptain also had extra base hits. Trevor Reinhardt earned the win with two innings of no-hit shutout ball with four strikeouts. The Leist brothers combined to throw five innings of shutout ball with Carson allowing one hit while striking out five.

 

For the Cubs, Sam Zirbel accounted for three of the team's six hits while Robbie Pollman and Josh Pflieger each recorded RBI. Juston Williams took the loss on the hill, allowing nine runs (4 ER) on eight hits and a walk while striking out three across four innings of work.
