The Green Bay Blizzard closed out their home schedule in dominant fashion Saturday afternoon on Military Appreciation Night, dismantling the Fishers Freight 83-50 to go a perfect 8-0 at home this season and improve to 11-2 on the year. Green Bay showed absolutely no mercy.
Kairee Robinson was the story. The running back found the endzone five times on the ground and was virtually unstoppable all afternoon, finishing with 119 rushing yards. Liam Thompson was efficient as ever, operating the offense like a field general and adding two rushing touchdowns of his own. Cole Stenstrom came on late and punched in two more scores to pile it on. Green Bay rushed for 168 yards as a team and turned the ball over zero times. Fishers had no answer for the Blizzard’s ground game and it wasn’t close.
Andrew Mevis had himself a day too, hitting three deuces on kickoffs. DB Fred Flavors took the second half kickoff to the house to blow the game wide open. The Blizzard’s defense forced two turnovers and kept bending Fishers back every time they threatened to make it a game.
At 11-2 with the league’s best record, Green Bay is the team to beat in the IFL. The Blizzard head into the final stretch of the regular season with a trip to Orlando on July 5th, kickoff at 6:30pm on Yahoo Sports. They’ll soon turn their attention to the playoffs and try to rewrite the story of last season which ended in heartbreak with a championship loss. This group has unfinished business and they know it.
