Mets Bats Explode Onto Scene, Dominate A's on 105.1 The GOAT

A chilly afternoon in Baileys Harbor was home to the Maplewood Mets breakout game, as their offense put up 16 runs, 5 of them in the first inning en route to a 16-0 win in 8 innings on 105.1 The GOAT.

A pair of back-to-back doubles from Jaden Diller and Adam Gutschow quickly had Maplewood out to a 2-0 lead in the first few pitches from Baileys Harbor starter Aaron Brey. Brey, who was fresh off a dominant season for Gibraltar/Washington Island. A few more key hits would see Brey be chased after the first inning, giving up 5 runs. In the bottom half of the inning, it would be Tory Jandrin shutting down the A's in order.

On the second pitch of the second inning, after Danny Lodl relieved Brey, Jaden Diller would record his second of eight RBIs on the day, with a solo home run over the center field wall. The A's would try to threaten with runners on second and third, but Jandrin and company would keep it scoreless.

Runs would continue to come across for Maplewood, who was searching for its first win all season, and had scored just two runs in its past three weeks. The bottom half of the innings would continue to be clean, with Tory Jandrin throwing 4 shutout innings with a huge 11-0 lead in hand.

Substitutes would continue to pile in for both sides from the fifth inning on, with the A's throwing a total of five pitchers in eight innings. Jaden Diller, however, would not be one of the Mets subbed out for the day, as he would finish the day a clean 5 for 5 at the plate, reaching base all 6 times. Diller would record another home run in the eighth and final inning, this last one to the same spot as the second inning. The only difference? A 3 RBI home run to bring the scoring to a close at 16-0.

Maplewood moves to 1-4 overall with a date with Washington Island next week. Baileys Harbor will fall to 1-4 as well, and they will play in the first Friday game of the season against Institute. 105.1 The GOAT will be in Sister Bay for the matchup of undefeated teams as Kolberg travels to Sister Bay.
