The Sister Bay Bays maintained their undefeated streak with a 9-6 victory over the West Jacksonport Ports on Sunday Afternoon on 105.1 The GOAT.
After escaping a first-inning threat thanks to a 3-5 double play, the Bays took an early lead following a walk by Tom Sawyer and an RBI groundout from Matt Hecht. The game remained a pitcher's duel between Sister Bay’s Sam Forkert and West Jacksonport’s Peyton Kuehn through the first four innings. However, the Bays capitalized on a series of walks to reclaim the lead for good.
While the Ports showed offensive life, including a home run by Kuehn, Matt Hecht secured the win for Sister Bay with a decisive grand slam. Sam Forkert earned the win after pitching seven innings, moving the Bays to 4-0 on the season. The Ports fall to 1-3.
Looking ahead, the Bays will travel to face the 4-0 Washington Island Islanders, while the Ports will host Institute. 105.1 The GOAT will head to Baileys Harbor as the A's play host to the Mets with pregame at 1:15 PM and first pitch at 1:30 PM.
