Washington Island scored 15 runs after the seventh inning to sprint past Egg Harbor 18-8 on Sunday.
After Ben Geiger and Ray McDonald gave the Islanders a 3-0 first inning lead, the Indians scored eight unanswered runs, highlighted by extra base hits by Brody Kollath and Cody Giesseman. Trailing 8-3, the Islanders took the lead in the sixth inning with seven runs, six of which came after the Indians turned a double play after the first three batters reached. The Islanders poured it on from there, scoring another six runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth to trigger the early ending.
The Islanders were led Ben Geiger's 4-6 performance that saw him drive in three runs. Luke Geiger, Ben Johnson, McDonald, Matt Foss, and Alex Johnson drove in a pair. Bennett Isaacson-Krueger earned the win on the mound, allowing no runs on two hits across four innings while striking out three.
For the Indians, Cory Fuller, Giesseman, and Nick Posh all had two hits with Fuller (2), Kollath (1), Cole Frangipane (1), and Connor Mueller (1), driving in runs. Brady Kita took the loss on the mound, allowing 10 runs (7 ER) on 10 hits across 5.2 innings while striking out two.
