WIAA opens 2026 boys golf season

Don't let the piles of snow on the course fool you: Monday is the first day the state's high school boys golf teams can hit the links for practices ahead of the WIAA season start next week.

Sturgeon Bay won its third consecutive conference championship last year, capping off another season where the golf team took first place in all the conference meets. The title coincides with a three-year winning streak in the Packerland Conference. Luxemburg-Casco qualified for the sectional tournament with a third place finish to cap off a successful season in the Northeastern Conference.

Individually, Sturgeon Bay's Tre Wienke, Luxemburg-Casco's Josh Parins, and Gibraltar's Finn Salm, all seniors, were the area's state qualifiers.

Depending on the weather, the first rounds could be played as soon as Thursday. That will not be the case locally as the Packerland Conference does not have any rounds scheduled until May and Luxemburg-Casco won't compete until April 7th when they golf at Twin Oaks Golf Course.
