The 13 seed UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team is gearing up for the kick-off of March Madness this Friday, as they are in Minneapolis, Minnesota, facing the 4 seed Golden Gophers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Phoenix enter as the 13 seed for their 3rd consecutive tournament appearance and 21st overall. The Phoenix clinched their tournament bid after beating Youngstown State 57-49 to win the Horizon League Championship.
This season, the Phoenix have been led by the Horizon League Player of the Year, Jenna Guyer. She’s averaging 15.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game on 46.3% shooting from the field, and 39% from deep. She is accompanied by Maddy Skorupski, who’s putting up 11 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. They are coached by the Horizon League Coach of the Year, Kayla Karius.
The tip-off is at 5 p.m.
