The Green Bay Blizzard had no fans to celebrate with, but it was a win nonetheless as they beat the Vegas Knight Hawks 37-35 in the season opener.
The Blizzard built up a 13-0 lead before the Knight Hawks got onto the scoreboard with a touchdown. The offensive onslaught would continue with the Blizzard scoring another 10 points to take a 23-7 advantage into halftime. The Knight Hawks were not going to go away quietly as they scored 28 of the final 42 points of the game, but a late goal-line stand gave the Blizzard their first win of the season.
Quarterback Liam Thompson scored four touchdowns, including two on the ground, as he piled up 157 yards of total offense. Trevon Alexander and Salvatore Malignaggi each caught one touchdown pass from Thompson, while Draysean Hudson rushed in for another.
The Blizzard are back in action on Saturday when they face the Fishers Freight.
