Gamblers drop second straight in Cedar Rapids

The Green Bay Gamblers couldn’t recover Saturday after a strong push from the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in the second period, falling 4-2 Saturday night at ImOn Ice Arena.

Cedar Rapids opened the scoring midway through the first period on the power play, but Green Bay responded late in the frame. David Rozsíval tied the game at 18:27, finishing a play from Bienstock and Will Wooten to send the teams into the intermission even at 1-1.

The RoughRiders took control early in the second period, scoring twice in a 37-second span to build a 3-1 lead. Green Bay answered just under two minutes later when Ryan Knutson buried his 10th goal of the season, cutting the deficit to one.

Despite pushing for the equalizer in the third period, Green Bay was unable to break through. Cedar Rapids sealed the game with an empty-net goal in the final minute.

The RoughRiders outshot the Gamblers 36-22 on the night. Raul “Junior” Henriquez made 32 saves in the loss for Green Bay.

After letting Friday night’s game slip away, the Gamblers were unable to recover in the series finale and left Cedar Rapids empty-handed as they look to regroup heading into next week.
