Phoenix women take down Mastodons in semi-finals

The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team bought its ticket into the Barbasol Horizon League Championship finals. The Phoenix took down the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons, 73-48, this past Monday in the semi-finals.

The Mastodons opened the gates early, taking a 4-0 lead in the opening minutes. The Phoenix bounced back and ended the first quarter up 13-9, and didn’t allow PFW to get an edge for the rest of the game. Paving the way for the Phoenix was Carley Duffney with 20 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal. Leading the defensive side of the ball was Maddy Skoruspki, picking 6 steals to go along with 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. Meghan Schultz chipped in a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds; she also had an assist, a steal, and a block.

The Phoenix now looks forward to this Tuesday as they face the Youngstown State Penguins for the 2026 Barbasol Horizon League Women’s Basketball Championship.
