The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team saw their season come to a close on Sunday, falling to Northern Kentucky 96-76.
The Phoenix men held down the Norse in the early minutes of the contest by not allowing a field goal for nearly eight minutes. They could not take advantage of their defense prowess however, taking an early 7-0 lead before the Norse woke up offensively. Coupled with a strong rebounding performance, the Norse knocked down 14 three-pointers compared to just four for the Phoenix. That allowed the Norse to take a 36-30 lead into the locker room and expand the lead to more than 20 points throughout the second half.
C.J. O'Hara led the Phoenix with 18 points while Justin Allen added 18 points, and Preston Ruedinger registered 13 points and 10 assists in their final games with the Phoenix.
The Phoenix ended their year with an 18-15 mark, a 14-win improvement under the guidance of second-year head coach Doug Gottlieb.
