NTDP pulls away from Gamblers in Friday matchup

The Green Bay Gamblers ran into a hot offense Friday night, falling 8-1 to the USA Hockey National Team Development Program at the Resch Center.

The NTDP opened the scoring midway through the first period and added another late in the frame to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

The game broke open in the second period, when the NTDP scored four times to stretch the lead to 6-0.

Two more goals early in the third pushed the advantage to eight before Green Bay broke through. Anton Samuelsson scored his 11th goal of the season at 6:30, finishing a play set up by Ryan Carcone and Ivan Fedotov to account for the Gamblers’ lone goal.

The game also featured a chippy third period with multiple roughing penalties assessed to both teams as the physical play ramped up late.

Despite the lopsided score, Green Bay finished with 29 shots on goal. Goaltender Slavick made 29 saves on 37 shots in the loss.
