Phoenix men slip in standings after loss to Titans

The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team are on the wrong end of a multi-team tie for second place in the Horizon League after losing to Detroit-Mercy 74-70 on Sunday.

The two teams traded leads  all afternoon long with the Phoenix responding to an early deficit with a 6-0 run before the Titans responded with one of their own to enter the locker room with a slim 31-28 lead. The Titans stretched their lead before the Phoenix responded with a 7-0 run, but the lead was short-lived as Orlando Lovejoy converted on a three-point play and let his teammates finish the job at the free throw line.

The loss spoiled a strong outing by four Phoenix players that reached double figures led by Preston Ruedinger's 19 points and 17 points from Justin Allen and C.J. O'Hara.

The Phoenix return home to face Youngstown State on Saturday for the final home game of the regular season with a 1 p.m. tip-off.
