Green Bay men's basketball coach Doug Gottlieb was suspended by the Horizon League on Wednesday for one game following his post-game tirade on Sunday that questioned the officiating after his team's close loss to Milwaukee.
The Horizon League said that Gottlieb violated the conference's operating regulations when he openly questioned the validity of two calls that he believed swung the game in favor of the Panthers, including a technical foul called against him. He accompanied his thoughts by swearing and pounding on the table.

Gottlieb and the Green Bay Phoenix Athletics Department disagreed, but accepted the punishment levied by the Horizon League. While Gottlieb apologized for his actions and expressed his appreciation for the work the officials, Athletic Director Josh Moon and Chancellor Michael Alexander believed the punishment went too far.
Assistant coach Kelly Rupp will have the reins when the Phoenix men travel to Michigan to face Oakland on Friday. Gottlieb will be back on the bench for the Phoenix when they play at Detroit-Mercy on Sunday.
