Phoenix drop second straight Horizon League matchup

UWGB women's basketball lost a second straight conference matchup, but this time it wasn't as close. Northern Kentucky kept Green Bay off their game again in the 77-59 loss.

A first quarter lead went in favor of the Phoenix, 20-12, and they shot 53% from the field including 2-5 from three.

From there, though, UWGB was outscored in the final three quarters tallying no more than 14 points in a single frame.

Despite a strong first quarter, Green Bay shot 36.7% and was outdone by the Norse in almost every category.

The Phoenix held a 41-40 lead early in the third, but were victims of two large offensive runs from the Norse that pulled the game from their hands.

Northern Kentucky was led by Taysha Rushton's 21 points meanwhile the best offensive performance for Green Bay came from Meghan Schultz 16 points on 7-12 shooting.

The good news, though, is Green Bay still won the Horizon League title outright despite the loss. They'll take on UW-Milwaukee Feb 21 in a game that aspires to be a bounce-back attempt.
