As thrilling as Preston Ruedinger's three-pointer against Northern Kentucky was on Wednesday, the Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball may have taken it up a notch.
Kamy Peppler's buzzer-beating, banked in three-pointer as time expired gave the Phoenix women a 61-58 win over Robert Morris Thursday morning.
The game off to a rocky start as the Phoenix weather a 19-2 run by the Colonials amid a shrieking school day crowd in Pennsylvania. The Phoenix returned serve in the second quarter, outscoring the Colonials 26-11 to make it a two-point game at the break. The two teams exchanged blows the rest of the game with a 9-0 run pushing the Phoenix ahead only to see the Colonials comeback and take a 58-55 lead with under a minute to go. Peppler hit a three to tie the game before heroics followed a miss underneath by the Colonials.
Maddy Skorupski paced the Phoenix with 13 points while Meghan Schultz and Jenna Guyer each added 12 points despite battling foul trouble.
The Phoenix head to Cleveland State on Wednesday before returning home on Saturday to take on Northern Kentucky.
