A rollercoaster of emotions finally went the way of Green Bay with .5 seconds left in its 87-84 win over Northern Kentucky on Wednesday.
A 10-0 run in the first half gave the Phoenix a 31-18 advantage before the Norse were able to whittle it to just a four-point lead at the break. The Phoenix were able to stretch their lead out to double figures again in the second half only to see the Norse respond and take the lead with just over four minutes to go in the game. A loose ball after a C.J. O'Hara free throw miss bounced just right for the Phoenix, finding Marcus Hall to hit a three-pointer that sent the two teams into the extra session tied at 72. The Phoenix would lead by as much as five points in overtime, only to see the Norse again come back and climb ahead. The game was tied at 84 after the Norse's Donovan Oday split his free throw when Ruedinger's heroics gave the Phoenix the much needed win.
C.J. O'Hara led the Phoenix with a season-high 23 points while Hall added 15 points and Caden Wilkins scored 11 points.
The Phoenix are back home on Saturday for a 1 p.m. matinee when they welcome Detroit-Mercy.
