Teddy Bear Toss night spoiled as Gamblers fall to Dubuque

A festive night at the Resch Center ended in disappointment as the Green Bay Gamblers fell 4-2 to the Dubuque Fighting Saints Saturday, despite a packed house of 7,893 fans for Teddy Bear Toss night.

The highlight of the evening came late in the first period when Cruz Martin scored his fourth of the season, sending thousands of teddy bears raining down onto the ice in one of the loudest moments of the year. The celebration tied the game at one after Dubuque struck first on the power play.

Green Bay briefly grabbed momentum early in the second when Andrew O’Sullivan finished a play set up by Carcone and Gulley, but Dubuque answered quickly and took control with a power-play goal just over a minute into the third. An empty-netter sealed it late.

The Gamblers were limited offensively after the opening frame and couldn’t capitalize on their power-play chances, while Dubuque finished 2-for-4 with the man advantage.

Green Bay looks to regroup as they continue the homestand after a tough loss on an otherwise memorable night in front of nearly 8,000 fans.
