Green Bay Phoenix fans were treated to a pair of wins Saturday, with the men avenging an earlier-season loss to Robert Morris with a 71-67 victory and the women cruising to a 72-61 win over Detroit Mercy.
In Moon Township, Pennsylvania, a 12-0 run — capped by back-to-back Cadebn Wilkins 3-pointers — thwarted a comeback attempt by the Colonials after an early surge gave them a 41-40 lead. Robert Morris had trailed 40-33 at halftime. The Colonials hit several late 3-pointers to trim the lead and keep the game in doubt, but the Phoenix held on for the win. C.J. O’Hara led Green Bay with 18 points, while Wilkins and Justin Allen each scored 17.
At the Kress Events Center, the Phoenix used a 21-10 first quarter to secure their 12th straight Horizon League victory. Slim edges in rebounds (37-34) and forced turnovers (19-16) helped Green Bay fend off any comeback attempts by the Titans. Maddy Skorupski led the Phoenix with 22 points, while Jenna Guyer and Meghan Schultz each chipped in 11.
The Phoenix women return to the Kress on Thursday against Wright State, while the men make their Resch Center debut Friday against Cleveland State.
