Gamblers split weekend set

Three was the magic number this weekend at the Resch Center, with the Muskegon Lumberjacks winning the first game 3-2 and the Green Bay Gamblers taking the second game 3-1.

In Friday’s matchup, the Gamblers gave up three unanswered goals after Andrew O’Sullivan opened the scoring with a first-period tally. Gunnar Conboy scored with just under seven minutes remaining to pull the Gamblers closer, but not close enough to force overtime. Leo Henriquez stopped 23 of 26 shots in the loss.

In Saturday’s contest, Cruz Martin kicked off the scoring in the first period before the Lumberjacks tied the game early in the second period. David Rozsíval tallied the eventual game-winner about two minutes later, and Zach Wooten put the game on ice with an empty-netter. Henriquez bounced back in the second game, stopping 24 of the 25 shots he faced.

The Gamblers are back in action Saturday at 6:05 p.m. when they welcome Dubuque.
