The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team led wire-to-wire in their latest Horizon League win, this time beating Oakland 73-59.
The two teams played relatively even the final three quarters, but a 21-9 start to the contest gave the Phoenix an advantage they would not give up. The Golden Grizzlies outrebounded the Phoenix 43-33, but turning the ball over 21 times ended up being their demise.
The Phoenix had three players score in double figures, led by Maddy Skorupski's 19 points. Carley Duffney scored 12 points, and Jenna Guyer added 10 points in the way. Former Oconto standout Lianna Baxter led the Golden Grizzlies with 16 points.
The Phoenix are back in action on Saturday with a home matinee against Detroit.
