Golden Grizzlies snap Phoenix men's winning streak

An 11-2 Oakland run to start the second half all but spelled the end of the Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team's five-game winning streak as they lost to the Golden Grizzlies 88-63.

The Golden Grizzlies shot a blistering 54 percent from the field and outrebounded the Phoenix 42-24 to hold the control over the game. An 8-0 run late in the first half gave Phoenix fans hope for another come-from-behind victory as they narrowed a 30-19 deficit to 37-31 at the break. The hope was short-lived as the Golden Grizzlies outscored the Phoenix 51-32 in the second half to tighten its grip on the Horizon League's second spot. Ramel Bethea led the Phoenix with 11 points, Marcus Hall added nine points, and Preston Ruedinger chipped in six points in the loss. Tuburu Naivalurua (26 points and 10 rebounds) and Isaac Garrett (17 points and 10 rebounds) posted double-doubles to pace the Golden Grizzlies.

The Phoenix will head east on their road trip this week with games at Youngstown State on Thursday and Robert Morris on Saturday.
