Phoenix women top Mastadons

The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team stayed perfect in the Horizon League on Wednesday night with a 69-57 win over Purdue Fort Wayne.

An 8-0 run midway through the first quarter set the stage for the Phoenix's win over another one of the top teams in the Horizon League. A second 8-0 run in the second quarter put the team on cruise control the rest of the way, using its staunch defense and gritty play in the paint and on the boards as a catalyst.

Jenna Guyer led the way with 17 points for the Phoenix with Meghan Schultz chipping in 12 points and Gracie Grzesk added another 10 points.

The Phoenix are 9-0 in the Horizon League for the first time since the 2016-2017 campaign. They will put that mark to the test on Saturday when they travel south to face Milwaukee for a weekend matinee.
