Green Bay uses sweltering defense for eighth straight conference win

UW-Green Bay held Detroit Mercy to under 30 percent from both the field and three-point line and under 13 points per quarter until the fourth as GB won 74-53. The Phoenix also forced 15 turnovers by the Titans.

In contrast, Green Bay shot nearly 50 percent from the field and 30 from the big arc behind Jenna Guyer's double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Right behind her was Maddy Skorupski tagging on 18 points and dishing 8 assists. They had 21 assist in the game.

Detroit Mercy's Jasmine Edwards also had a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards to lead the way for the Titans offense.

The Pheonix were out-rebounded 42-39, but it didn't matter and they picked up their 8th win in 8 conference games so far this season.

Next up is hosting the second-place team in the Horizon, Purdue Fort Wayne, at the Kress Center January 14 in line for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
