Continuing their homestand at the Kress Center, UWGB's men (9-8, 4-2) added their third straight win and fifth in their last six games dating back to their December 11 win over IU Indy (4-14, 0-7). Friday night was their second win over Indy this season and came by a score of 75-59.
The win marks the first time in Doug Gottlieb's two seasons that they hold a winning record.
Green Bay outshot Indy in every category on their way to a convincing win and keeping their offensive efforts moving in the right direction.
Preston Ruedinger saw the ball go through at a 50% clip in the game, topping all scorers with 24 including 4-8 from three. As a team, GB out-rebounded Indy especially on the defensive glass, 38-22.
It's a true win by committee as the season's offensive leader Marcus Hall had just 6 points, but was picked up off the bench by LeBron Thomas with 16 and fellow starter C.J. O'Hara adding 14.
The Phoenix did have 16 turnovers and will look to clean those up when they face Northern Kentucky January 11 with a 1 p.m. tipoff. They currently sit one spot above Green Bay in the Horizon League standings.
For UW-Green Bay, defending home court has been a bright area this season. Up to this point they are 4-1 at home while 1-6 on the road. Sunday's game is sure to test what the Phoenix have done so far in January.
