The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team saw its 21-point advantage disappear only to claw it back from their southern rivals in a 79-76 win over Milwaukee Monday night at the Kress Events Center.
The Phoenix got out to a hot start, scoring 10 of the game's first 12 points and taking a lead of 42-21 with six minutes left in the first half. The Panthers began hitting shots from beyond the arc from that point on, closing the gap to 46-32 before the half thanks to an 11-4 run and taking a 59-55 lead with less than nine minutes left thanks to a 27-9 rally coming out of the locker room. The Phoenix took the lead with Preston Ruedinger's three-pointer providing an exclamation point before using free throws to keep their distance from the Panthers.
Justin Allen scored 21 points to lead the Phoenix while C.J. O'Hara added 19 points, and LeBron Thomas contributed 12 points in the win. Danilo Jovanovich led the Panthers with 19 points.
The Phoenix will stick around town for the rest of the week, starting with IU Indy on Friday at 6 p.m. and followed by Northern Kentucky on Sunday at 1 p.m.
