Gamblers' historic win streak meets the end of the road in Des Moines

The Green Bay Gamblers saw a historic 14-game winning streak come to an end Saturday night, falling 6-2 to the Des Moines Buccaneers.

After a scoreless first period, Green Bay struck first on the power play when Samuelsson buried his seventh of the season midway through the second. Des Moines responded quickly, scoring twice in a span of just over two minutes to grab momentum and a 2-1 lead.

Des Moines pulled away in the final frame, scoring four times to break the game open. Samuelsson added his second of the night, but it wasn’t enough to slow the Buccaneers’ surge. Green Bay managed just 18 shots on goal as Des Moines controlled the pace late.

Despite the loss, the Gamblers’ 14-game winning streak stands as one of the longest in franchise history. Green Bay will look to regroup quickly as they continue the road swing and push forward in the second half of the season.

The Gamblers will try to salvage one game of the trip when the two sides play again at 3:05 Sunday afternoon.
