UWGB defense leads to victory over Cleveland State

UW-Green Bay starts 5-0 in Horizon League play after a slow offensive performance Friday is held down by defense for a 58-55 win.

Green Bay shot 37.9% from the field and two late free throws from Jenna Guyer propelled the Phoenix to victory.

Guyer finished with 15 points and was backed by Kristina Ouimette with 14 on 5-11 shooting.

Izabella Zingaro led all scorers with 17 and shot 50% on the night including a late three that brought Cleveland State within one point of the Phoenix.

Green Bay has relied on their defense a lot as of late and look to continue growing through the back half of the season towards another NCAA March Madness appearance.

UWGB gets another conference matchup Sunday Jan 4 at 1 p.m. home at the Kress.
