Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol celebrate holiday break with wrestling tournament

Two local schools head to Lakeland University on Tuesday for the Sheboygan South Girls Holiday Invite.

 

Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol will join Hartford Union, West Bend East, Fond du Lac, Oshkosh North, Valders, Horicon, Seymour, Campbellsport, Dodgeland, Greenfield, Hortonville, Kiel, New Berlin West, New Holstein, Oneida Nation, Ozaukee, Peshtigo, Plymouth, Random Lake, Ripon, Laona-Wabeno, West Allis Central, Whitewater, Winneconne, Berlin, Xavier, Kewaskum, Marinette, and Oshkosh West for the festivities that kick off at 10 a.m.

 

In their last tournament action, the Southern Door girls wrestling team found themselves at the top of the mountain Friday, winning the Wrightstown Girls Invitational with 122 points. Every girl on the team registered at least one win with six capturing medals. Sydney Turner found herself at the top of the podium at 152 poinds. Nora LeFevre and Kailyn Neville took second place in their brackets, while Portia Hah and Skya Scrimgeour found themselves in the Top 3. Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol wrestler Tiani Lemieux climbed the podium once again at the Wrightstown Girls Invitational. Lemieux's three contested matches all ended in the first period with pins, with her match against Kewaunee's Arianna Niemojuski the only one that last longer than 60 seconds. Anna Dalke (3rd place) and Kimberly Robertoy (6th place) also collected three wins on the day.
