The Green Bay Gamblers opened the second half of the season in strong fashion Saturday night, pulling away from the Dubuque Fighting Saints for a 6-3 road victory at ImOn Arena.
After trading special teams goals in the opening period, Dubuque briefly grabbed momentum early in the second. Green Bay answered quickly, scoring three goals in a span of under nine minutes to flip the game and take control. Owen Wooten continued his hot streak, scoring his 20th of the season, while goals from Conboy and Gulley helped the Gamblers turn a 3-2 deficit into a 5-3 lead.
Green Bay shut the door in the third period, outscoring Dubuque 2-0 and limiting the Saints’ chances down the stretch. Tucker Slavick made 24 saves in net as the Gamblers finished strong and pulled away with an empty-net goal late.
With the win, Green Bay starts the second half of the season on a high note and holds sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference and the best record in the USHL.
