UWGB girls shooting struggles lead to non-conference loss

In the final non-conference game of the regular season for UW-Green Bay they dropped a 7-point first quarter lead to Miami (OH) and were outscored in the remaining three quarters losing 66-50 on the road.

Green Bay (8-5) has only lost in non-conference affairs this season and today's matchup was driven by shooting struggles that started in the second quarter after a 18-11 lead through the first frame. Miami's defense held them to 6 points in the second quarter to even the game up at halftime.

The Phoenix finished shooting 32.6% from the field and 38.9% behind the arc. After the first quarter fire,  40% from the field and a staggering 4-7 from downtown, they slowed down mightly.

Jenna Guyer led the way for UWGB with 12 points in 29 minutes. Four Miami (OH) starters tallied double figures and only five notched a point, including 6 points off the bench from Clara Gonzalez Planella. Ilse de Vries finished with 20 to top all scorers.

Green Bay gets a 10-day break and will face Wright State on the road Dec. 30th at 6 p.m.
