Gamblers surge past Capitols and takeover first in front of packed Resch Center

The Green Bay Gamblers fed off the energy of a crowd of 4,286 at the Resch Center Saturday night, rolling to a convincing 6-2 win over the Madison Capitols. They've positioned themselves now in first place in the Eastern Conference while totaling the most points in the league with 41.

Green Bay struck first in the opening period with goals from Wooten and Katz, including a power-play tally, and never looked back. The Gamblers took full control in the second period as Wooten added two more goals to complete a hat trick and build a 4-0 advantage.

Madison found the net twice early in the third, but any momentum was short-lived. Green Bay answered quickly and capped the night with an empty-net goal from Drabicki to put the game away. Henriquez turned in a strong performance between the pipes with 30 saves, while the Gamblers’ defense limited Madison to 0-for-4 on the power play.

With a loud home crowd behind them, Green Bay yet another weekend series on the season allowing them to slide into first place.
