Blizzard announces roster updates

The Green Bay Blizzard have announced several new signings as they prepare for the 2026 IFL season, adding a quarterback, a defensive back, and a running back.

 

Quarterback Liam Thompson
Thompson joins the Blizzard for his second IFL season after spending his rookie year with the Bay Area Panthers. The 6'1", 215-pound quarterback out of Wabash College earned numerous honors, including three NCAC Offensive Player of the Year awards (2021–2023), three First Team All-NCAC selections (2021–2023), and a Second Team All-NCAC selection (2019). He also set NCAC records, including career offensive yards (12,900) and the single-season record of 3,937 offensive yards in 2022.

 

Defensive Back Giovanni Waller
Waller enters the IFL as a rookie after playing at East Central University, a Division II program in Oklahoma. Over two seasons (2023–2024), he appeared in 22 games and recorded 70 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions, 17 pass breakups, one quarterback hit, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and two blocked kicks. His senior season earned him All-GAC Third Team honors.

 

Running Back Walter Wilbon III
Wilbon III joins the Blizzard as a rookie after a standout career at Florida Memorial University, following two inactive seasons at Ohio University. At FMU, he appeared in 20 games over the 2023 and 2024 seasons, tallying 1,935 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on 262 carries, along with 331 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 35 receptions. He also added punt and kick return production and six tackles. His 2024 senior season included becoming the program’s first 1,000-yard rusher since the program returned and earning Sun Conference First Team honors.
