Green Bay's basketball teams saw double-digit leads slip late in the second halves of their game with the women holding on and the men losing in frustrating fashion.
In the Phoenix women's 70-60 win over Northern Kentucky, a 20-point lead was slashed to single-digits before they were able to hold off the Norse from the free-throw line. The difference came from behind the arc where the Phoenix shot 56 percent while the Norse shot 23 percent. Four Phoenix players reached double-figures in the win including 13 points from Meghan Schultz and Jenna Guyer, Gracie Grzesk adding 12 points, and Kallie Peppler chipping in 10 points. The Phoenix women return home for an 11:30 a.m. game against Youngstown State on Sunday.
The Phoenix men were outscored 13-2 in the final 3:30 to see a win over the defending Horlzon League champions turn into an 80-78 loss to Robert Morris. The late-game run canceled out the Phoenix's own 13-2 run to start the second half that allowed them to take an 11-point lead late. The Phoenix men also had four players in double figures, led by Justin Allen (20 points), Preston Ruedinger (17 points), and Marcus Hall (14 points). They will try to bounce back on Sunday at 4 p.m. on the road when they face Wright State.
