The Green Bay Gamblers handled business on the road Friday night, riding a hat trick from forward Jack Gulley to a 6-2 win over the Omaha Lancers at Liberty First Credit Union Arena.
Green Bay wasted no time setting the tone. Gulley scored just 53 seconds into the game, and the Gamblers built a 3-1 lead after one with goals from Jakub Rozsíval and Cole Katz. Omaha’s lone answer in the period came from Markonidis at 11:02.
The Gamblers kept pressing in the second. Gulley struck again early in the frame, and Owen O’Sullivan added another late to make it 5-1. Despite a parade of penalties, Green Bay took five minors and a fighting major in the middle period, Omaha couldn’t chip away.
The Lancers made it 5-2 on an Arneson tally just 3:38 into the third, but Gulley completed the hat trick a few minutes later off a feed from Hafele and O’Malley to put the game out of reach.
Green Bay outshot Omaha 37-26, while Mason Slavick turned away 24 shots to earn the win in net. Neither team converted on the power play, going a combined 0-for-9.
With the victory, the Gamblers continued their up-and-down start to the season, but Friday’s effort was one of their more complete showings: a fast start, scoring balance, and steady defense to close it out.
