The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team secured their first win of the season Monday afternoon, topping in-state foe Ripon College 83-63.
The first half gave fans flashbacks to last year's Education Day loss to Northern Michigan with the Phoenix struggling at the line and the Red Hawks hitting 10 first-half three pointers. The two teams traded leads until the half when the Phoenix entered the locker room up 38-35. An 8-0 run in the second half turned a close game into a blowout as the Phoenix were able to get a proper tune-up before two tough matchups later this week against St. Thomas and Minnesota.
Marcus Hall led the Phoenix with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Mac Wrecke (13 points), C.J. O'Hara (11 points), and Maruan Cicic (10 points) also reached double figures. Jarton Davis paced the Red Hawks with 18 points.
