Phoenix basketball teams open regular season Monday

The Green Bay Phoenix men and women will hit the court for the first time this regular season on Monday after posting wins in their exhibition game tune-ups.

 

The Phoenix men are in Lawrence, Kan. to face national power and 19th-ranked Kansas at the Allen Fieldhouse. In their 75-48 win over St. Norbert College, the Phoenix men outscored their crosstown foes 33-17 in the first half thanks to 10 points from Marcus Hall. The Phoenix had four players score in double figures, including 13 points from Josh Hines and 10 points apiece from Marcus Hall, Maruan Cicic, and Dontrell Hewlett. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

 

The Phoenix women will play at the Kress Events Center when they battle the UW-Stevens Point Pointers. In their 72-34 exhibition win over UW-Platteville, Green Bay showcased its depth and new talent early. The offseason brought several impactful additions including transfers Gracie Grzesk from UW Madison, Maddy Skorupski from Oakland, and Carley Duffney from South Dakota. All three earned the start and combined for 29 points. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
