Gamblers respond on Saturday night against Chicago, split weekend series

The Green Bay Gamblers bounced back in a big way Saturday night, defeating the Chicago Steel 6-3 at the Resch Center. After falling 4-2 to the Steel the night before, Green Bay’s offense erupted behind strong performances from several key players.

The Gamblers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Simon Samuelsson and Carter Katz, while Griffin Wooten and Anthony Carcone each contributed on the scoresheet. Chicago trimmed the lead late in the period, but Green Bay stayed in control.

In the second period, Max Gulley, Owen Buesgens, and Wooten extended the Gamblers’ advantage, helping Green Bay take a commanding 5-2 lead. Jakob Hafele sealed the victory with an empty-net goal late in the third, while goaltender Charlie Slavick made 29 saves on 32 shots to secure the win.

The Gamblers outplayed Chicago in transition and capitalized on their chances — something that eluded them in Friday’s 4-2 loss despite outshooting the Steel 31-33.

Green Bay will look to carry that momentum into their next matchup when they return home to host the Waterloo Black Hawks on Thursday, October 31, at the Resch Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. as the Gamblers aim to keep building rhythm heading into November.
