Gamblers drop both games in road set at Muskegon

The Green Bay Gamblers came up empty in a two-game weekend road trip, falling 3-0 Friday and 3-2 Saturday to the Muskegon Lumberjacks at Trinity Health Arena.

Friday’s opener saw Muskegon take control behind a second-period goal from William Norringer before they added two more in the third. The Gamblers mustered just eight shots on goal, all turned away by Carl Axelsson, who earned the shutout. Green Bay goaltender Victor Henriquez made 21 saves on 24 shots in the loss.

Saturday’s rematch was a tighter contest, with Green Bay putting 36 shots on net. Muskegon jumped out early with goals from Mason Koering and Caden Christ, but Green Bay’s Michael Katz responded with his second of the season. After Norringer extended the Lumberjacks’ lead in the second, Katz struck again on the power play to cut the deficit to one. Despite a heavy push, Axelsson stopped 34 shots to preserve Muskegon’s 3-2 win. Gamblers goaltender Jacob Slavick finished with 21 saves.

The Gamblers return home still searching for their first win of the season, standing at 0-2-0-1, while Muskegon remains unbeaten at 4-0.
