Packers welcome Commanders for white-out game

The Pack is back for a Thursday night game against the Washington Commanders.

In Sunday’s game, the Green Bay Packers hosted the Detroit Lions for the NFL season opener, winning 27-13 and starting the 2025-2026 season with a 1-0 record. From the kick-off, the Packers showed their dominance, especially in the first half, which saw them take a 17-3 lead into halftime. This early lead was largely due to the impressive performance of quarterback Jordan Love, who threw for two touchdowns. The first was a 15-yard toss to tight end Tucker Kraft. The second touchdown was a 17-yard pass to wide receiver Jayden Reed. The Lions attempted to come back in the second half, but the Packers' defense held strong, and their offense delivered the decisive blow in the fourth quarter. Running back Josh Jacobs punched in a crucial 3-yard rushing touchdown. Notable Packer performances from Sunday were: Quarterback Jordan Love (192 total yards and 2 touchdowns), running back Josh Jacobs (70 total yards and a rushing touchdown), and linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (8 solo tackles and four assisted tackles).

Looking ahead, the Packers are eager to carry this momentum into Week 2, where they will again play at home, hosting the Washington Commanders on Thursday night. However, there are some injury concerns emerging from Sunday's game. Linebacker Micah Parsons, a key component of the Packers' defense, has been on limited participation in practice since Sunday due to a lower back sprain. Additionally, wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks, who also saw limited practice time since Sunday, is dealing with a calf injury.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
