Volleyball Tournaments Continue Into Saturday

Gibraltar girls volleyball opened their weekend tournament play Friday with matches against Wisconsin Heights, Central Wisconsin Christian, and Parkview.

The Vikings finished the day 1-2, dropping their first two matches in a combined four sets before rallying for their first win of the season. In their final match, Gibraltar came from behind to beat Parkview in three sets (10-25, 25-11, 15-12).

Algoma began play at the Reedsville Invite with an 8 a.m. matchup against Winnebago Lutheran Academy, falling in straight sets (25-21, 25-8) to start the year 0-1.

The Clippers battled through a tough field at the Champion Center this weekend.

vs. Waupaca: 25–22, 25–27, 9–15

vs. Manitowoc: 6–25, 17–25

vs. Bay Port: 13–25, 6–25

Match Highlights against Wuapaca 

Strong Serving: Audrey Harrington (3 aces) and Makenna Coyhis (2 aces) sparked Sturgeon Bay from the service line.

Efficient Attacking: Miya Nell (2-for-2) and Regan Kasten (2 kills, 67%) were bright spots at the net, while Yarrow Goettelman added 3 kills and 2 blocks.

Defensive Anchor: Reen Walker and Coyhis each tallied 6 digs, with Walker also contributing a block. Sofie Carmody provided scrappy defense and hustle throughout the day.

Opening Win: The Clippers came out strong, taking the first set against Waupaca 25–22 behind 5 team aces and relentless defensive play.

All Clippers contributed to the team effort today, and the group looks forward to bringing even more fight on day two of competition tomorrow.
