DCBL Round-Up: Kolberg wins regular-season crown

The Door County Baseball League Playoffs are set after the final Sunday of the regular season, when all four home teams earned victories.

 

Kolberg earned the top spot in the field as the regular season champions with a 5-1 win over West Jacksonport. The Braves' Trevor Reinhardt won the mound while helping his cause with a pair of hits. The Braves outhit the Ports 8-3 in the victory, with Austin Rohe and Austen Dart each clubbing doubles.

 

Sister Bay will be the two-seed after knocking off Maplewood 14-3. The Bays took control of the game late, scoring four times in the sixth inning and five more times in the seventh to put the game on ice an inning early. Chubs Laughlin, Spencer Krause, Stew Larsen, Matt Hecht, and Casey Wedding all had two hits, while Sawyer Johnson went 3-5 with three RBI. Tom Sawyer, Johnson, and Hecht all had doubles in the win. Jaden Dillar, Nolan Wagner, and Zach Marchant posted multi-hit games while Kordell Draves homered for the Mets in the loss.

 

A six-run third inning helped accelerate Egg Harbor to a 12-0 win over Institute. Cole Frangipiane homered, and Nick Kita doubled to help Brady Kita to his first win as a pitcher for the Indians. Cory Fuller, Nick Kita, and Frangipiane all had two hits while Brady Kita, Frangipiane, and Nick Posh had multi-RBI games. The Cubs' top of the order put pressure on the Indians as Nick Peterson and Sam Zirbel combined to go 5-9. 

 

Baileys Harbor ended Washington Island's hopes of sneaking into the field with a 3-1 victory.

 

Next Sunday, West Jacksonport will travel to Sister Bay while Kolberg hosts Maplewood for the DCBL Playoff Semifinals. Both games will take place at 1:30 p.m.
